    Minutes

      • Call to order - 2:10 PM
        • Delayed by Suyash’s breathtaking performance
        • Gabe - motion to turn meeting into karaoke session
          • Fran - seconded
      • Public comments - 2:11 PM
        • Suyash performed I Will Survive on the guitar
          • Fran: that was performative
        • Gabe - VIDA Free speech policy update proposal - Proposed Academic Freedom and Free Speech Policy (for viewing in DASG admin minutes)
          • Request to add to schedule in upcoming meetings
          • Goal: secure endorsement of DASG
          • Main points:
            • The idea behind this is that people all around the country are being targeted by college and university administrations. Students have been expelled and faculty have been fired for their speech and protest activities.
            • Freedom to express opinions and share viewpoints = protected for all staff/students in the district
            • Applies to all media and interactions between everyone in the district
            • Unprotected speech: slander, libel, incitement of illegal activity/violence, threats of violence, “fighting words”, harassment/discrimination
        • Suyash made intern Nolan ask “where the hell are all the interns” (very important)
      • Advisor announcements - 2:12 PM
        • Both Dennis and Maritza are out - no need for Zoom
          • keep them updated
        • Suyash: no advisor announcements
      • Shared governance reports - 2:12 PM
        • Suyash CPC - plan for 2027-2030 to increase enrollment
          • Increase on-campus stuff
          • Create a committee to help RAPP
        • Zander RAPP
          • More hiring to deal with more work
      • Intern project updates - 2:13 PM
        • Suyash - Nolan started intern project, expecting project report
          • Joon hasn’t started his yet
      • Election Code & Posting Guidelines Changes - 2:14 PM
        • Proposed changes
          • Suyash:
            • Go back to timeline/elections code
            • James: timelines should be fine
            • Mon: candidates debate, campaigning begins
            • Wed: voting opens (closes next wed)
            • Posting guidelines -> we do not have edit access
            • Photos: update them, not delete them
            • Plurality rules -> if less than 3% of DASG constituents have voted, voting window will be extended
            • Tabling -> kind of irrelevant
              • Just did it for welcome day
    • Deleted
            • Again, no coalitions
          • Fran:
    • No coalitions, period!
            • Specific wording
            • No working together
            • No working with people outside of the campaign
      • Fran: Temporarily moving on to posting guidelines review
        • Changes made during the meeting will be noted here:
        • Delete banners
      • If a candidate commits ANY VIOLATIONS OF THE ELECTIONS CODE, they get disqualified!!!!!!
        • Fran: give them a grace period of 12-24 hrs to resolve some issues before disqualification?
        • DQ = NO REIMBURSEMENT! -> this has to be CLEARLY STATED SOMEWHERE!
        • Withholding of reimbursements?
        • Reflection letters and community service -> slap on the wrist; REMOVED
        • Anything that gives them a disadvantage -> no
      • Anything the Admin Committee deems to have given them an unfair advantage -> INSTANT DQ!
      • Suyash: for smaller issues where a violation either doesn’t have much proof or is a subjective situation where it can’t be certainly proven, there should be a punishment lesser than disqualification but more than just a slap on the wrist
        • James: community service
        • Devan (Intern) -> make them clean something?
        • Nolan: confirmation from supervisor that the candidate did their community service and make them write about the impact of their volunteering
        • Devan: spoken public apology in front of the entire senate
        • Verdict: community service plus apology speech
          • 3 minute apology speech, total of 24 hours volunteering by the end of next quarter
          • Suyash is for 2, Fran and Gabe for 5, James -> debate later
          • Compromise: 3 minutes
      • For something like slandering an opponent, then it’s an OCL matter
      • James: all complainants have to be named on the complaint form and publicly appear at the meeting where their complaint is presented, otherwise their complaint will not be heard
      • If a disqualification cannot be resolved -> pass it on to the full senate
      • Fran: article V corrective action -> remove everything that says “you get disqualified for …” -> this segment is obsolete considering the discussion of disqualification conditions earlier in the meeting
        • Minor infractions not determined to damage college property or give the candidate an unfair advantage will be informed of any member of the Admin committee and no other action will be taken
          • If correction is not made within 24 hours of notification, candidate will be disqualified
        • Leave it a big vague so that there is room for discussion
      • Disqualifications will be applied in response to any violation of the posting guidelines and elections code excluding minor infractions
        • Major infractions cannot be corrected
      • For DQ meetings, the voting members are James, Suyash, Fran, Gabe
        • Admin committee can vote regarding the disqualification, or if they can’t come to a consensus, they send it up to the Senate.
          • An incentive for us to get it done because sending it up to Senate means that we have to go up there and present the case D:
          • When it goes up to Senate, everyone can vote
          • Disqualification will require a majority vote between all the voting senators
        • For the senate option -> write that out in the appeals section
      • Add an article that lays out what happens in the event of a disqualification
        • Be as specific as possible to minimize complaints like “oh, you specified this here but not here!”
      • Campaign conduct - remove the section on when campaigning is permitted because that stuff is already in the timeline
        • Also the information is outdated anyway
    • Suyash: motion to extend time by 10 minutes @ 3 pm (seconded by Fran)
      • Runoffs will last for a max of 1 week, if nobody gains a majority, the candidate with the plurality will be deemed the winner
      • Runoffs will be enacted if nobody gains the maximum votes
      • Next week: coalitions
    • Introduction of prospective interns - 3:04 PM
      • none
    • Public comments - 3:04 PM
    • Devan went to Chipotle :D
      • Chipotle said no
    • Nolan asked Dish + Dash -> he asked shift lead and was directed to the manager who ghosted him
    • Suggestion: ask Yogurtland?
    • Min: I love Admin Committee
    • Meeting adjourned - 3:06 PM

    James’ Report:

    • Changed the election posting guidelines (no posting on trees, no purposefully leaving election materials behind, no furniture, no windows, no cars, etc)
    • Changed the election code bylaws (administration committee allowed to bring it to senate, minor infractions not corrected in 24 hours is instant disqualification, changed voting period and campaigning period to be different, punishments instead of dq involve public apology to senate or community service, etc)

    Suggestions for next week’s meeting:

    • No coalitions being added into the elections code
