Academic Reading and Writing
Course Description
Part 1: In this course, students receive instruction in academic reading and writing, including writing processes, effective use of language, analytical thinking, and the foundations of academic research. Part 2: This course introduces students to university-level reading and writing, with an emphasis on analysis. Students will closely examine a variety of texts (personal, popular, literary, professional, academic) from culturally diverse traditions. Students will practice common rhetorical strategies used in academic writing and compose clear, well-organized, and well-developed essays with varying purposes and differing audiences, from personal to academic.

ENGL 1000.F1Q: This class is part of the First Year Experience (FYE) program which is designed to help students succeed through community-building and linked classes. This is a HYBRID class that has both online and ON CAMPUS attendance requirements. Concurrent enrollment in COUN 5.1FY and LART 250 is required.
