Introduction to Public Speaking
Course Description
Part 1: In this course, students learn and apply foundational rhetorical theories and techniques of public speaking in a multicultural democratic society. Students discover, develop, and critically analyze ideas in public discourse through research, reasoning, organization, composition, delivery to a live audience and evaluation of various types of speeches, including informative and persuasive speeches.

COMM 1000.58Z: Fully ONLINE. This is an online class that does not have scheduled meetings with the exception of live presentations. Students must be present online for live presentations on dates to be determined by the instructor. Students can log in anytime to do the required weekly course work. Students must have access to a computer, the internet and an individual email address. We recommend a laptop or desktop computer to successfully complete the course; a tablet or phone may not be adequate for all assignments and tests.
